Artistic Profile

Singing

Isabel Devaux started her vocal studies at the Hochschule der Künste in Zurich under Kathrin Graf and attended there the opera- and lied- class. 
She continued with Joanna Porackova, USA (internationally active, Berliner Philharmoniker, Salzburger Osterfestspiele, Festspiele Aix-en-Provence) and Sylvia Kevorkian, Paris (Opéra du Rhin, De Nederlandse Opera, Opéra de Nice).

Regular coachings with Jory Vinikour ,renowned harpsichordist and vocal coach (working with Marc Minkovski, Opéra national de Paris, Oper Zürich, Salzburger Festspiele), enlarge her musical repertoire.

Her first engagements were at the „Ensemble- Theater Biel- Solothurn“, where she sang several small parts, among others in „Suor Angelica“ (G. Puccini),

„Die Fledermaus“ (J. Strauss), „My Fair Lady“ (F. Loewe).

Lately the main focus of her work has been on recitals and concerts at home and abroad with a broad repertoire extending from Haendel, Bach, Mozart, Fauré, Chausson, Dvořák, Schumann, Brahms, Wolf, Schoeck to Rachmaninov, Tchaikowsky and Mussorgsky.

In the field of opera she sang Sesto, „Giulio Cesare“, Rinaldo, „Rinaldo“ (G. F. Haendel), Dorabella, „Cosi fan tutte“, 3. Dame, „Die Zauberflöte“ (W. A. Mozart), Olga, „Eugen Onegin“,
Paulina, „Pique Dame“ (P. I. Tchaikowsky), Charlotte, „Werther“ (J. Massenet), Orlofsky, „Die Fledermaus“ (J. Strauss), Carmen and Mercedes, „Carmen“ (G. Bizet).

Isabel Devaux sang with the following orchestras: Sinfonieorchester Biel, Sinfonieorchester Friedrichshafen, Philharmonisches Orchester Budweis and with various chamber orchestras.

She has been invited to several festivals as a guest, so for example to the „Schubertiade of Radio Espace 2“, to the national „Festival de Science et Cité“ in Switzerland and to the „Classic Open Solothurn“(CH).

Dance

Isabel Devaux is educated in ballet, baroque dance, tap dance, jazz and modern, she has knowledge of flamenco and she is a dancer of great demand for oriental dance.

As a member of the ballett company of the „Städtebund- Theater Biel – Solothurn“ she danced in numerous Musicals and Operettas and was later choreographer for several productions (operettas, operas) for the „Classic Open Festival Solothurn“ and the „Ensemble- Theater der Regionen Biel“.

Isabel Devaux is a dancer and teacher in demand for oriental dance and is recognized as a representative of the classical style in the tradition of dancers such as Samia Gamal and Tahia Carioca.
Her dancing repertoire is completed by dances of the caucasus region, mittle asia, eastern european gypsy dances and bollywood.

Since 2014 she dances regularly with “Compagnie enSuite”, an ensemble for historical dance under the direction of Silvana Baumgartner.

2013 she appeard in a short film of „Twosa –Film- Productions“ for the „Swiss Hotel Film Award“ (Bollywood) and was during 2011- 2015 responsable as a dancer and choreographer for the cultural program for the „Happy Diwaly-Festival“ of the „Indian Association of Bern“ (with special guest: Indian Ambassador to Switzerland) and for the danceshow of the „International Bollywoodfestival“ 2011 in Thun (CH).

2015 she got a „Master of Advanced Studies“ – degree in TanzKultur (University of Bern);
2005/06 she completed a comprehensive education in teaching oriental dance with Havva und Layali Römer in Zurich (CH)
